Each with a scroll and leaf carved toprail above the oval carved splat centred with a relief carved bras armé crest, the panel seat on reeded apron and sabre legs, stamped "GILLOWS LANCASTER" under seat rail.

These unusual hall chairs were part of a set ordered by Thomas Clifton (1788-1851) for his house, Lytham Hall in Lancashire, in September 1832.
