Lot 252

THREE ANTIQUE CHINESE PIECES
A late Qing huanghuali dressing box, the hinged top with a mirror surrounded by carved and pierced panels above a cabinet with two drawers. Together with a smaller walnut box with a two-part top enclosing an arrangement of compartments with finely-carved and pierced covers; and a carved and pierced hardwood frame.
Dressing box, 24cm high, 44cm wide, 45cm deep

Estimate $800 - $1,200

Sold for $5,500

The cosmetic chest with replaced drawer liners, possibly some replaced hardware, the mirror inset and frame are later additions, some general evidence of restoration and refinishing of surface.

Frame shows some evidence of having been refinished.

Small multi-compartment box with some small old chips and losses to the carving but generally appears unrestored and with original patina.
