A ROYAL VIENNA CABINET CUP AND SAUCER
Circa 1870

The cup and saucer decorated with bands of under-glaze blue and gold with scroll patterns on top of each band. The cup painted with a panel of a women and cupid signed by "Naure". Under-glaze blue Beehive factory mark on cup and saucer, titled "Sei wieder gut" to underside of cup.

Hairline to cup, light wear, minor paint restoration near base of the cup.

The title of the painting is "Sei wieder gut" meaning ‘Be good again'. Porcelain made before 1865 at the New Vien factory and decorated by the "Housemulier" in about 1870. One of a set of six brought to Australia by Austrian children's choir in 1939 who were held until the end of the war, broken up and sold in order to pay for their upkeep during the war.
