A BIRCH AND WHITEHEAD BLACK BASALT TEAPOT AND COVER
Circa 1796

Straight sided, flat topped, rectangular (with rounded corners) with a circular cover, the pot with a high strap handle and straight tapered spout, a band of engine turned ribs around the base. The cover and body inlaid in silver with classical style swags of flowers and the monogram 'GAR', the cover with applied finial with a band of acanthus leaves and a seated women. The spout with a silver plate mount.
12.5cm high, 21.5cm wide
Total height 12.3 cm.

Extensive restorations to body of the teapot. Minor repair and chips to lid.
